It’s an oft used trivia quiz question – What was the first Bond Car?
It wasn’t the Aston Martin DB5 or the pre-war Bentley of the books, on the silver screen in the first outing in Dr No it was the Sunbeam Alpine that Sean Connery took for a spin and evaded the baddies in during that memorable chase sequence.
We are lucky enough to count the Alpine amongst the trusty steeds that our membership own and when local charity Ayrshire Cancer Support put out the call for a ‘James Bond Car’ to be part of their charity 007 Bond Ball, George Frame was only too happy to offer his (and the Alpine’s) services for this great cause.
The Charity Ball which took place on the evening of September 15th at the Ayr Racecourse raised over £40,000 which will be used to provide practical help and emotional support to cancer patients and their families in Ayrshire.
We have added a few pictures to give you a flavour of the evening and of course show George’s Alpine off in what he wishes was it’s natural habitat – amongst the glitterati and surrounded by a few spies 😉
