THOUGHTS FOR NOVEMBER
Welcome to the November chatalong, well I do that chatting!
Firstly the New Year Dinner. As you know, I have booked the Savoy Park in Ayr (http://www.savoypark.com/) for the night of Friday 11th Jan 18. This is an increasingly popular place for weddings and believe it or not, that was the only Friday available where we could also stay over. Room rates are £70 for a double and £55 for a single and they are accepting our bookings as of now – just mention the Club for these rates.
I can now confirm that the cost of the meal will be £25 per head and that will be for 3 courses; a welcome drink, wine or soft drinks throughout the meal and coffee and a liqueur to finish.
Can I now ask you to book and pay for your meal(s) by means of a cheque made out to ‘Ayrshire Classics Car Club’ or cash to the treasurer either at a Club meeting or to John at 12 Landsborough Drive Kilmarnock KA31DY.
Those who have been before will know the format; it remains the same on the principle ‘if it aint broke, don’t fix it’. But for those that haven’t, we dress smartly to compliment the girls who always shine at these events and foregather in the hotel at 1900 for pre-dinner fizz or softee before going into dinner at 1930. The tables will each seat 8 folks and we have no seating plan. Once seated, you will be asked to choose your meal options and wine will be be served with the food. Your job will be to enjoy the food and the company!
So there you have it – again!
Keith continues to has doing a sterling job managing Club Regalia and the promised sturdy ‘golf windproof’ umbrellas in red and white sporting the Club logo have arrived and will be available at the next meeting – £25 each. We have 4 ‘extras’ for those who forgot to request theirs.
You will of course know by now that Keith is the man to contact firstname.lastname@example.org for Club regalia and he can now offer sweaters for men and women. There is a wide range from £20 for a cashmere touch acrylic in black or navy through to a Glenmuir lambswool in a choice of colours at £54. The middle of the road range comprises lambswool crew neck in black and navy, likewise v neck in black charcoal and navy, both for men only at £30 and cotton/acrylic crew neck with a girl’s option in black, cranberry red, charcoal marl, denim marl and french navy for £25. All will of course come with an embroidered club logo. Have a look at the ‘Pencarrie’ website for a great deal more detail on the sweaters. Keith can’t make the next meeting so it gives us all time to have a think about it.
The next meeting is this Thursday the 8th November in the Ford room of Kingcase Parish Church Prestwick and following George’s excellent talk last month, another of our own will stand up to the pump – John Hope will engage us all on the topic of ‘Humber cars’.
The final meeting of the year will feature a quiz with questions that will I hope seek to entertain, not flummox us all, our bottle race plus the normal raffle of pre-Christmas items provided by – yourselves!! More in the next newsletter.
