TVR Griffith 4.3 Litre V8 (non cat) / 275bhp / 0 to 60 in 4.7s / 161mph

I have owned this car for nearly 20 years and it has been stored for the last 4 summers and is now being recommissioned to get it roadworthy and MOT’d.  Under 70,000 miles, full service history and receipts.

Not for the faint hearted.  Raw ballistic performance.  No PAS.  No ABS.  No airbags.  No stabilty control.

The car was perfect when driven into the garage but storage has taken its toll therefore there is more requiring attention after the recommissioning process and I have decided it’s time to move on, rather than invest more money in it.  Prices are rising steadily by the way but I’ve slowed down a lot and lost the need for speed…

It benefits from previous investment with SS exhaust and by regular Waxoling, Slick 50 additive and only Castrol Magnatec oil and filter every 3,000 miles since bought with 34,000 miles on the clock in 1999 and as follows:

Toyo proxes in good condition / solid billet distributor / oil filled coil / HP ignition leads / alloy roof struts / reconditioned diff / fully adjustable gas shocks / dimpled EBC discs and green pads / Toyota fanbelt / full top end rebuild / gaskets / vernier timing adjustment (doesn’t hunt in town) / oil pump / Kent camshaft / shims / water pump / header and exhaust gaskets / gear linkage & twin cored radiator (no overheating) etc…

Recommissioning work:  Brakes stripped and overhauled / SS braided brake hoses / fresh fluids / oil filter / fuel filter & Bosch fuel pump / relay etc…

This is a properly sorted Griffith that handles and drives extremely well.  It has been touring to the Nurburgring, Le Mans, Goodwood, Isle of Wight and John o’ Groats on separate occasions.  The engine cylinder bores, main bearings and crankshaft were inspected when the top end rebuild was carried out at circa 60,000 miles and found to be in exceptional condition for its mileage due to the Slick 50 graphite coating being added to the oil at 34,000 miles.

New spares include the following:  Manual operated door mirrors (last pair on the planet) / clock / clutch plate and housing & clutch master cylinder…

The paintwork is very good but has some small age related blemishes.  No crazing and no lacquer issues.  The interior is very tidy and the dash is not cracked.  Fitted with wooden Motolita wheel but has original Momo leather one.   Hood and rear screen are perfect.  The car has never leaked in the rain.  Other work required is to weeping seals/gaskets to parts of engine, gearbox and diff due to drying out whilst in storage and maybe some other minor bits and pieces once up and running.

During ownership it has proved remarkably reliable and really hasn’t demanded much other than the sensible upgrades that were lavished on it to make it perfect.  The chassis is in very good condition due to being Waxoyled regularly, even prior to my ownership.  All electrics work as they should.  10 x CD autochanger in boot and face off Kenwood stereo and matching upgraded speakers.  Spare spacesaver alloy wheel and cover.  Hardtop cover and tool wrap.  Original service and owner’s manual.

The value of the car is probably about £19,000+ once the rest of the work has been done.  Open to offers circa £16,000
