Next Meeting Thursday 13th Dec 18 at Ford Hall Kingcase Parish Church Prestwick

Your committee wish a Happy Christmas and a prosperous New Year. I don’t know where this year has gone, but I do hope that the summer weather comes back for 2019.

This will be the Last meeting of 2018

The next meeting on 13 Dec will be the last before the AGM in Feb 19. We traditionally don’t have a meeting in January reasoning that it might be a little might be a little too much to have 2 meetings in the month, albeit that one will be the Club Annual Dinner. It will also be the last meeting before the Club Dinner.

Ah the dinner – well the format will replicate those of past years, so you might have seen this before!

Where – Savoy Park Hotel 16 Racecourse Road, Ayr, Ayrshire, KA7 2UT. Tel 01292 266 112

When – Friday 11th Jan 19, 1900 for 1930hrs

What – Fizz on arrival followed by 3 course meal accompanied by wine and finished by coffee and liqueur. Soft drinks for those who prefer.

Accommodation – book your room at a reduced rate directly with the Hotel – mention that you will be attending the Car Club Dinner

Dress – the girls dress up for this so chaps do please complement our partners.

Cost – £25 per head for Club Members (member and partner) covers all of the above. Cheques or cash to the treasurer by 7th Jan 19 to secure your place. His address is 12 Landsborough Drive Kilmarnock KA31RY.

So what’s going to happen at the Next Meeting?

We hope to raise some money for charity at this meeting and have some fun too. So please bring along ‘prizes’ for the raffle – there is no bar on alcohol (so long as it is not consumed on the premises). It never ceases to amaze me how often folks win back their own ‘prize’ – there is no fudge in this (unless you bring some) as you will see.

The Club will donate a bottle of whisky for the ‘win the bottle’ competition. A sporting endeavour which involves sliding a £1 coin along the floor to rest against the bottle that is cunningly in the wrong place, or is that just my lack of ability in this? The owner of the coin that finishes up closest to the bottle wins it! The remaining coins will go to the charity fund. So bring along plenty of £1 coins!!

Traditionally we also have a quiz and that will be no different this year. I asked the committee for some suggestions for questions and all I can say is that they are clearly a wicked bunch. Mind you I have introduced some pictures that might help you. There will be small prizes for the winners.

I know that the AGM is some time away (Valentines Day next year no less!) but it is worth giving some thought to any changes that you would like to see in the Club. First and foremost of course is the committee. If you would like to become a member of the committee in whatever capacity, then please let me know in good time. However, if you have any suggestions for change but don’t want to join the committee, then please let me have them, before Feb.

So there we have it and now that I’ve recovered from drooling over the various offerings at the NEC, none of which have made it into my garage I should add, I will get back to weaponising the quiz. Tee hee. See you at the next meeting.

Best regards
