West Dunbartonshire is gearing up to host the starting point for the 2019 edition of the Monte Carlo Rally.
The historic event returns to Clydebank following a successful start in the town back in 2012.
Over 80 classic cars will be on display for the general public at the free event on January 30 at Aurora Avenue in the shadow of the landmark Titan Crane.
Access to the event site will begin at 2.30pm, and once the last of the participants has parked up their vehicle – estimated to be around 4pm – the public will be able to view the classic cars.
The viewing will run until 5.15pm, with the event itself starting at 6pm.
It’s expected the last car will depart Clydebank around 7.15pm.
Thousands of spectators are expected to gather and enjoy the spectacle with music, food and fun before helping wave off those taking part in the rally from 5:30pm as competitors begin their journey across open public roads over eight days, finishing in Monaco in the South of France on February, 6.
The 1,500 mile trip will incorporate both the Rallye Monte Carlo Historique and Rallye Monte Carlo Classique head for Monte Carlo with the Historique event undergoing fifteen regularity (average speed) test stages in the mountains of southern France, the Classique is restricted to cars purely from 1911 to 1965 and will follow the same route, without the timed stages with the ultimate goal of finishing in Monte Carlo ahead of the Historique on February 2.
