Toyota People – Gemma Wade, young restorer

It won’t come as any surprise to Ayrshire Classics Car Club members to hear that the Wade family quite like Toyotas!

When any club member buys one, you can generally hear someone in the know telling them ‘Oh a Toyota – you should get Harveys’ number!’

Gemma’s 1976 Toyota 1000 is a well known and well travelled example which has been seen at the showpiece NEC Classic Car Show, in publicity shots for garages such as Border Toyota, Carlisle and of course at our very own ‘Cars on the Campus’.
It’s so well known that you might be fooled into thinking there are quite a few still on the road but the reality is that it’s now a pretty rare model, with only ten roadworthy examples surviving.

Owning and restoring such a rare machine brings its own problems and the Toyota GB web page recently ran a brilliant article about the restoration of the car and the Wade family – True Toyota Enthusiasts!

These are exactly the types of stories we’d love to feature on the site, so if you have a tale you’d like to share on Restoration Corner, please get in touch!
In the meantime, click on the link below to read about a car and people we all know and love!
